Weather Requirements for Balloon Flight |

| AM Flights | |
| 1. | Wind - Calm on Surface - 15 miles per hour or less at 3000 feet. |
| 2. |
Temp/Dewpoint Spread - Spread cannot be less than 4 degrees. Example - temperature reported at 72 degrees, dewpoint reported at 70 degrees. This means with only a 2 point spread, there is a potential for fog to develop. |
| 3. | Radar - No thunderstorms or rain showers within 50 miles of Charlotte as shown on Charlotte radar. |
| 4. | Visibility and Ceiling - Must have 3 miles visibility and at least 1000 foot ceiling. |
| PM Flights | |
| 1. | Wind - 5 miles per hour or less on surface - 15 miles per hour or less at 3000 feet. |
| 2. |
Radar - No thunderstorms or rain showers within 50 miles of Charlotte. No chance of thunderstorms in the Charlotte forecast. |
| 3. | Visibility and Ceiling - Must have 3 miles visibility and at least a 1000 foot ceiling. |
Balloons Over Charlotte uses local FAA flight services station to verify all weather conditions. The phone number is 1-800-992-7433. Flights take off at sunrise and 1 1/2 hours before sunset only. This is the time of day that winds are the calmest and air is the smoothest. |
